Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora warns the Government is in no position to set a ‘road map’ for letting fans back into stadiums after the lockdown.
There have been up to 1,000 supporters allowed in to watch pre-season friendlies, but the CTS (technical scientific commission) has rejected the Juventus proposal to at least partially re-open their stadium for the Serie A opener with Sampdoria.
“Trying to give dates and times for when the stadiums will reopen would be wrong at this moment,” Spadafora told Radio Punto Nuovo.
“We’ll have to wait and see in two weeks what the statistics say over infections and also what happens after the schools have been opened for a couple of weeks.
“What I hope, as Minister for Sport, is that the fans can soon get back into the stadium. We were rigorous when necessary and thanks to that we were able to restart the season.
“I will not set out a road map or launch myself into theories of partial reopening. We’ll see what happens after the schools have reopened, then we’ll discuss it with the CTS and the Lega Serie A.”
